We foster a love of music and an appreciation of fine arts at Menno. Students in Kindergarten through to Grade 5 have music classes on a weekly basis where they development the love of music through song, dance, movement games, and instruments. With an array of styles, these music classes help children explore the power of rhythm, melody, tonality, and beat while nurturing key physical, social, and intellectual skills. The students also participate in fine arts and utilize a variety of mediums to develop their artistic knowledge and ability. In Grade 6 the students are required to participate in band in order to lay down a foundation for the Jr High Band Option. Fine Arts Options are also available to students in Jr High.
Christmas Concert
The MSCS Christmas Concert celebrates the message of Christmas and showcases the talents of our Division 1 and 2 students. The Grade 5 students take the lead and put on a full musical production that focuses on the Birth of Christ. The Division 1 and 2 choirs support the musical festivities with additional performances from the Grade 6 and Jr High Band.
Spring Musical or Theatrical Production
Each year, MSCS showcases a full musical or theatrical production creatively characterized with sets, costumes and props. The Junior High Students rehearse hours on end to perform songs and spoken dialogue with acting and dancing. Shows typically run three nights in a row (a Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening) in the spring.
